About Us

“To everything there is a season – :
A time to be born and a time to die.”
– Ecclesiastes III: 1, 2

Because death is a universal experience and because it has a profound emotional and social impact on the survivors, the customs and practices associated with it are very important.

A memorial society, or funeral consumers alliance, is an association of consumers from all walks of life who want a dignified alternative to the elaborate and increasingly expensive funeral services promoted by the funeral industry.

The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Vermont is one of 100 such societies across the U.S. and Canada. We are a member of the national Funeral Consumers Alliance (FCA).

The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Vermont, a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational membership organization, was founded in May of 1967 as the Vermont Memorial Society.  We offer information to help Vermonters approach death planning in a thoughtful, informed manner via our Hotline at 1-855-698-8322 (1-855-MY-VT-FCA), through our biennial price survey, through presentations to organizations and groups around the state, and at our annual meeting.

FCA-VT is entirely volunteer run and governed by a Board of Trustees elected by the membership at our annual meeting.
